Objectives

Materials

• Large map of a town with various places labeled
• Flashcards with images and names of various places in town
• Whiteboard and markers
• Handouts with fill-in-the-blank activities and guided conversation questions

Introduction (5 minutes)

• Greet students and ask if they know any places in town in Spanish.
• Write a few examples on the board and ask students if they know any others.
• Introduce the new vocabulary and provide flashcards for students to practice.

Presentation (10 minutes)

• Show the map of the town and label the various places.
• Use prepositions of location to describe where each place is located.
• Have students repeat the prepositions and try to guess which place is being described.

Practice (10 minutes)

• Split students into pairs.
• Provide handouts with fill-in-the-blank activities for students to complete together.
• Circulate the classroom to offer assistance and provide feedback.

Application (5 minutes)

• Have students come up to the board and draw a location in town.
• Have their partner ask them a question about the location using prepositions of location.
• Rotate pairs until every student has had a turn.

Assessment (5 minutes)

• Give each student a conversation prompt and have them practice asking and answering questions about places in town with a partner.
• Circulate the classroom to listen in on conversations and provide feedback.

Closure (5 minutes)

• Review the new vocabulary and ask students to name one place in town they learned today.
• Thank students for their participation and encourage them to continue practicing their Spanish vocabulary at home.
