Objectives
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- Identify and name at least 10 parts of the body in Spanish.
- Use the appropriate articles (el, la, los, las) when talking about parts of the body in Spanish.
- Formulate simple sentences using vocabulary related to parts of the body.
Materials Needed
- Whiteboard and markers
- Flashcards or pictures of different parts of the body
- Worksheet with fill-in-the-blank sentences for students to complete
Procedure
- Introduction (5 minutes)
- Greet students and introduce the topic of the lesson
- Ask students if they know any words in Spanish related to parts of the body
- Write down any words they know on the board
- Vocabulary (10 minutes)
- Show flashcards or pictures of different parts of the body (e.g. cabeza, brazo, pierna, dedos, codo, rodilla, hombro, tobillo, oído, nariz)
- Ask students to repeat the names of the body parts after you
- Give examples of sentences using the body parts and the appropriate articles (e.g. La cabeza, el brazo, los dedos, etc.)
- Sentence Formation (10 minutes)
- Give students the worksheet with fill-in-the-blank sentences related to parts of the body
- Have students work in pairs to complete the sentences
- Review the completed sentences as a class and correct any mistakes
- Practice (5 minutes)
- Ask students to stand up and touch different parts of their body while saying the name of the body part in Spanish
- Have students take turns asking each other questions using the vocabulary they learned (e.g. ¿Cómo se llama esta parte del cuerpo? ¿Es el o la?)
- Conclusion (5 minutes)
- Summarize the vocabulary and concepts covered in the lesson
- Ask students to name at least 5 parts of the body in Spanish
- Review the appropriate articles to use when talking about parts of the body in Spanish
Assessment
- Observe students during the practice activity to ensure they are using the correct vocabulary and articles when talking about parts of the body.
- Review completed worksheets to assess understanding of sentence formation using parts of the body vocabulary.
