Hello, my little bookworms! Today, we are going to have a fun-filled lesson on fluency in reading. Remember, fluency means reading like a pro – with confidence, accuracy, expression, and speed.
Before we begin the lesson, we're going to do a quick warm-up activity. I'm going to read a sentence, and you have to find the word that is different from the others. Are you ready?
Example: Apple, banana, carrot, mango.
Answer: Carrot.
Now, it's your turn.
Sentence: Milk, water, juice, elephant.
Sentence: Ball, bat, mouse, glove.
Great job! Now, let's move on to the lesson.
Are you ready to go on an adventure? I have a story to read to you called "The Three Little Pigs." This classic tale is sure to improve your fluency as you listen to the story and follow along with the words on the page.
Now that we've read our story, let's play a fun game called Word Hunt. I'm going to call out a word, and you have to find it in the story we just read.
Example: Find the word "pig" in the story.
Answer: "Once upon a time, there were three little pigs who went out into the world to build their homes. The first little pig built his house out of straw, the second little pig built his house out of sticks, and the third little pig built his house out of bricks."
Now, it's your turn.
Superb! You guys are word wizards.
