Body (20 minutes):
- Discuss different parts of a plant and their functions:
- Roots (take in water and nutrients from soil)
- Stem (supports the plant and transports water and nutrients)
- Leaves (make food for the plant through photosynthesis)
- Flowers (produce seeds for reproduction)
- Show real plants and seeds to students and have them observe and touch them.
- Have students use scissors to cut out different parts of a plant from the colored construction paper and label them.
- Ask students to identify the different parts of a plant and their functions using the cut-outs.
Conclusion (5 minutes):
Review the different parts of a plant and their functions. Ask students to name different plants they know and identify their different parts.
Homework:
Have students take care of a planted seed at home and observe its growth. Encourage them to draw pictures of the plant at different stages of growth.
