Course Goals and Aims
The main goal of this course is to introduce Year/Grade 5 students to the basics of pickle ball. The course will aim to provide students with a foundational understanding of the sport, including its rules, equipment, and basic game play. By the end of the course, students will be able to play a basic game of pickle ball and demonstrate an understanding of the key techniques and strategies involved.
Module 1: Introduction to Pickle Ball
Lesson 1: What is Pickle Ball?
- Students will be introduced to the sport of pickle ball and given a brief history of its development.
- Basic game rules will be outlined, including the size of the court, equipment, and scoring system.
- Students will be shown examples of pickle ball being played and given an opportunity to ask questions.
Lesson 2: Paddles and Balls
- Students will learn about the specific equipment used in pickle ball, including paddles and balls.
- Basic techniques for gripping and holding a paddle will be demonstrated.
- Students will practice hitting a pickle ball back and forth to a partner.
