Today, my science class took a field trip to Target! Our teacher, Ms. Johnson, wanted to teach us about how things are made and the science behind it. We were all so excited to learn new things and possibly even buy some cool things.

When we arrived, Ms. Johnson told us that we were going to learn about how plastic toys are made and how they are packaged. We all gathered around a large shelf of toys and she pulled out a plastic toy car.

"Can anyone tell me what plastic is made of?" she asked.

I raised my hand as I remembered my mom telling me that plastic comes from a type of oil.

"That's correct!" she exclaimed. "Oil is pumped from the ground and is turned into plastic."

Ms. Johnson then went on to explain how the plastic is formed into toy cars in a factory. She showed us a video of a factory worker pouring the melted plastic into molds and how the finished products are taken to be packaged.

We followed her through the store to the toy aisle where she showed us the different types of packaging. We saw toys that were in boxes, bags, and even some that were just wrapped in plastic.

Ms. Johnson also explained that packaging serves many purposes. It can protect the toy from damage, make it easy to transport, and even make it more appealing to the customer.

After we learned about plastic toys and their packaging, Ms. Johnson let us explore the store for a little bit. Some of my friends bought some toys while others bought candy and snacks.

As we walked back to the bus, Ms. Johnson reminded us about the importance of recycling and how we should try to reuse things whenever possible. She also told us that many of the products that we use every day, like the plastic bags we put our groceries in, can be recycled and turned into new things.

I had so much fun on our field trip to Target, and I learned so much about how things are made and packaged. I can't wait to tell my parents all about it when I get home!
