- Stickers (star stickers, smiley faces)
- A timer
- Picture cards that depict different scenarios (e.g., arriving late to school, arriving on time)
Lesson Process
Introduction (5 minutes)
- Engagement: Start with a fun question: “What do you think it means to be on time?” Allow students to share their thoughts.
- Explanation: Introduce the concept of punctuality. Explain that being punctual means arriving at the right time for activities like school, playdates, and meals.
Discussion (5 minutes)
- Interactive Activity: Show the large clock poster. Ask the students about different times of the day when they go to school or play.
- Scenario Cards: Hold up the picture cards. Ask students to identify if the person in the picture is on time or late. Discuss how being late can affect plans (e.g., missing out on playtime or storytime).
Activity: Punctuality Race (15 minutes)
- Set-Up: Divide the class into small groups. Tell them they will participate in a “Punctuality Race.”
- Instructions:
- Use the timer to set a one-minute countdown.
- Place various items (clickers, toy animals) along a path in the classroom.
- Each group will take turns to race to collect items while listening to a “school bells” sound.
- Debrief: After the race, discuss with the students how they felt racing against the timer. Ask how important it is to be on time.
Reflection and Wrap-Up (5 minutes)
- Sharing Time: Invite students to share one situation where it is important to be on time (e.g., arriving for lunch).
- Closing Thought: Reinforce that being on time helps everyone have more fun and ensures we don’t miss out on important activities.
- Reward: Give out stickers as a reward for participation and sharing.
