Welcome to our exciting mathematics lesson on phonics, where we’re going to discover the magical connection between letters and numbers! Today, we have a special adventure planned: Numbers on Parade!
To get started, gather the students in a circle. Show them a colorful poster featuring numbers 0 to 9, each adorned with playful characters (like a dancing number 1 or a sleepy number 2).
Tell the class that today, the numbers are going to have a parade! They’ll be spelling out words with their sounds along the way.
Sound It Out: Go through each number from 0 to 9. Encourage the children to say the name of the number while you emphasize the phonetic sounds.
Get Moving!: Organize a quick relay where students pass around number cards. When a student receives a number card, they shout out the number and say a word that starts with that sound.
At the end of the lesson, gather the students back in a circle and celebrate their participation in Numbers on Parade!
