Lesson 6: Everyday Vocabulary

Duration: 90 Minutes

Objective:

Students will enhance their understanding and usage of common nouns and adjectives in Albanian, as well as learn about various question words (pyetës) and conjunctions (lidhorë).

Materials Needed:

• Whiteboard and markers
• Printed vocabulary lists
• Flashcards with images representing common nouns and adjectives
• Worksheets for individual activities

Lesson Outline:

Introduction (10 Minutes)

• Begin the lesson by discussing the importance of vocabulary in everyday conversations.
• Explain what nouns and adjectives are, providing examples in Albanian.

Vocabulary Presentation (20 Minutes)

• Introduce common nouns and adjectives in Albanian. Here's a short list to cover:

  • Common Nouns:

    • libri (book)
    • makinë (car)
    • fëmijë (child)
    • shtëpi (house)

  • Adjectives:

    • i bukur (beautiful)
    • i madh (big)
    • i vogël (small)
    • i shpejtë (fast)

• Encourage students to repeat the words and use them in simple sentences.

Question Words (15 Minutes)

• Teach the following question words:

  • kush? (who?)
  • cili? (which - masculine?)
  • cila? (which - feminine?)
  • ç’?(what?)
  • çfarë? (what?)

• Give examples of how to form questions using these words.

Conjunctions (15 Minutes)

• Introduce conjunctions:

  • që (that)
  • i cili (who/which - masculine)
  • por (but)

• Explain how these can be used to connect ideas in sentences.

Group Activity (15 Minutes)

• Divide students into small groups and assign each group a set of common nouns and adjectives to create sentences using question words and conjunctions.
• Ask them to present their sentences to the class.

Individual Activity (10 Minutes)

• Hand out worksheets that include exercises on nouns, adjectives, question words, and conjunctions.
• Students will fill in the blanks, match words, and create their own sentences.

Homework (5 Minutes)

• Assign students to find 5 common nouns and 5 adjectives in their home language and translate them into Albanian.
• Write three sentences using at least one common noun, one adjective, and one question word.

2. List 5 adjectives in your home language and translate into Albanian.
3. Write three sentences that include:

Assessment:

• Observe students during group activities for participation and understanding.
• Review the completed worksheets for correct usage of nouns, adjectives, question words, and conjunctions.

Conclusion (5 Minutes)

• Recap key points of the lesson.
• Encourage students to use new vocabulary in their daily conversations.
