Overview
In this 30-minute lesson, students will learn how to count and use numbers in French. The lesson is designed for students at any academic level who are studying French as a second language.
Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
- Count from 1 to 100 in French.
- Use numbers to ask and answer simple questions.
- Apply their knowledge of numbers to solve basic math problems in French.
Materials Needed

Procedure
- Warm-up activity (5 minutes): Play an audio recording with French numbers and have students repeat them out loud. Then, ask them to count to 10 in French.
- Introduction (5 minutes): Introduce the topic of numbers in French and explain why it's important to learn them.
- Teaching and practice (15 minutes): Teach the numbers from 1 to 100 in French, showing them on the whiteboard and pronouncing them together with the students. Use handouts with practice exercises to reinforce the learning. Have students work in pairs and ask each other simple questions using numbers (e.g., Quel est ton numéro de téléphone? - What is your phone number?).
- Application (5 minutes): Have students work individually to solve simple addition and subtraction problems in French using the numbers they have learned.
- Wrap-up activity (5 minutes): Review the key points of the lesson and have students count to 100 out loud in French.

To assess students' learning, use classroom observation and the completed practice exercises. Provide feedback and corrective guidance as needed.
