Begin by showing a colorful map of the Magical Market on a board or screen.
"Here's our map! To gather our treasures, we need to visit different stalls. Each stall has magical creatures who need our help to count their shiny gems and sparkling fruits. Are you ready to become multiplication wizards?"
Point to a stall labeled "Gem Stall."
"At the Gem Stall, we meet Gemina the Gnome. Gemina has 3 bags, and each bag contains 4 shining gems. Can anyone tell me how many gems there are in total?"
Encourage students to think about the problem. Prompt them to see multiplication as 'groups of'.
