As the students nod in excitement, place a large cardboard pizza in the center of the circle.

"In Fractions Land, we have a special problem to solve! The Great Chef needs our help to cut the pizza just right for the pizza party."

1. Set the Challenge

• "How many slices should we cut to make sure everyone gets a piece?" Engage them by asking how many slices they think would be fair. Write their suggestions on the board.
