Introduction to Emotions

"Hello! Today, we are going to learn about emotions. Emotions are feelings that everyone has, and they are very important because they help us understand how we and others feel. Can you think of a time when you felt really happy or maybe a bit sad? Recognizing and expressing our emotions helps us communicate better with our friends and family."

Introducing the Feelings Wheel

"Now, I have something special for you! Here is a feelings wheel. This wheel shows many different emotions we can feel. Look at all these faces and words! We have happy, sad, angry, surprised, and many more. Each section represents how we might feel sometimes. Let's take a look together. Can you point to an emotion you know?"

Coloring Activity

"Now it's your turn! I would like you to take your crayons or colored pencils and color in the feelings wheel based on how you feel today. Look closely at each emotion, and choose the ones that match how you are feeling right now. As you color, feel free to tell me about your feelings. What colors are you using and why?"

Discussion

"Great job with the coloring! Now, can you share with me which emotions you colored and why you chose those? Maybe there was a specific moment that made you feel that way. For instance, did you feel happy because you played with a friend? Or perhaps a little sad about something? Let’s talk about it!"

Closing

"Wonderful work today! You’ve learned about different feelings and expressed your emotions through the coloring activity. Remember, it’s important to recognize how we feel. For homework, I’d like you to fill out another feelings wheel at home. Try to think of one situation for each emotion you fill in. Don’t worry, we will check it together in our next lesson, and you won't have to present it. Keep practicing recognizing your emotions, and I look forward to seeing your work next time!"
