Introduce a short story titled Dino Dances about a friendly dinosaur named Daisy who loves to dance. As you read the story, emphasize the letter D whenever it appears. For example:
“Daisy the Dinosaur loved to dance with her friends. One day, they danced all around the den…”
After the story, encourage the children to sing a fun song about dancing. You could use a familiar tune like “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” but change the lyrics to:
“Dancing, dancing, letter D,
Dancing with my friends, whee!
Daisy Dances, can you see?
Let’s all dance so happily!”
Provide each child with a piece of paper and crayons or markers. Ask them to draw something that starts with the letter D.
Once everyone is finished with their drawings, let each child take a moment to share their artwork with the class. Encourage them to say, “This is a ___, and it starts with D!”
