Objectives

- Identify the similarities and differences between mosques and churches.
- Describe the features and symbols of mosques and churches.
- Understand the significance of mosques and churches to the followers of Islam and Christianity.
Materials
- Pictures and/or videos of mosques and churches
- Chart paper and markers for class discussion
- Handout with pictures of mosques and churches for individual work
Procedure
Introduction (5 minutes)
- Greet the class and briefly introduce the topic of the lesson.
- Show pictures and/or videos of mosques and churches, and ask students if they recognize any of them.
- Ask students if they know the difference between a mosque and a church.
Class Discussion (10 minutes)
- Divide the class into groups of 4-5 students.
- Provide each group with chart paper and markers.
- Instruct them to compare and contrast mosques and churches by listing down their features and symbols.
- After 5 minutes, ask each group to present their list to the class.
Individual Work (10 minutes)
- Distribute handouts with pictures of mosques and churches.
- Ask students to identify the features and symbols of each, and to describe their significance to the followers of Islam and Christianity.
- Allow students to work individually for 5 minutes.
- Ask some students to share their answers with the class.
Conclusion (5 minutes)
- Summarize the similarities and differences between mosques and churches based on the class discussion and individual work.
- Ask students to reflect on what they have learned and how it is relevant to their understanding of different religions.
Assessment
Assessment will be based on:
- Participation in class discussion
- Completion of individual work
- Understanding and accuracy of comparisons between mosques and churches
