Today, we’re going to embark on an exciting adventure that will help us become fantastic readers! Are you ready to be phoneme detectives? 🎩🔍
Phoneme segmentation is like breaking words into tiny pieces—these pieces are called phonemes! Phonemes are the sounds that we hear in words. For example, the word cat has three sounds: /k/, /a/, and /t/. Our goal today is to learn to listen for these sounds so we can unlock the secrets of reading!
Find a comfy spot on the carpet and sit in a circle. We’re going to start our adventure with a magical story!
I will show you a special treasure map! 🎒🗺️
Example: If I say dog, we’ll clap 3 times as we say /d/, /o/, /g/.
After we’ve unlocked a few treasure chests, I want you to think of your favorite word and tell us what treasure sounds are hidden in it.
After our treasure hunt, we’ll sail away to our next adventure of reading! I can’t wait to see how good you all become at finding and saying the sounds in words.
Grab your listening ears and your treasure-hunting spirit, and let’s do this together!
Remember, little explorers, every sound you find brings us closer to becoming reading champions! 🏆📚
