Gather 'Round!
Let’s all sit in a circle on the carpet. Look around – can you find anything that represents Canada? Maybe a red shirt or a white hat? Let's all give a cheer for Canada by saying, “Hooray, Canada!” on the count of three! One, two, three—Hooray, Canada!
Share Your Thoughts!
Now, I want to hear what you love about Canada! Is it our friendly people, beautiful nature, or delicious food? As we discuss, let’s think about how we can express those things through creative art.
Introduce the Colours!
Canada’s special colours are red and white. Let’s talk about why they are important! Who can tell me what they see in our flag? (Show the Canadian flag and let the children express what they see).
Creating Our Parade!
Now it’s time to create colorful flags or banners that show what you love about Canada. You can draw your favorite animal, place, or even a yummy treat! We will use the red and white ribbons to decorate our creations.
As you work on your artwork, remember to share with your friends what each piece represents. Once we’re done, we will have a “Canada Day Colours Parade” around our classroom to showcase our wonderful creations!
