Gather around, little explorers! Today, we're going on a special adventure to discover the magical world of shapes! But before we dive in, let’s use our imagination—close your eyes and think about all the shapes you see every day.
Let’s start with a fun song to wake up our shape senses! Here’s a simple tune to help us remember some shapes:
(To the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star")
Circle, circle, round and bright,
Makes a ball and rolls just right.
Square and rectangle, straight and strong,
Building blocks, they help us along.
Triangle, oh so pointy and tall,
We can find you in a roof or a wall.
Shapes, shapes, all around,
Let’s explore, let’s look and found!
After our song, let’s sit in a big circle. I will pass around a fuzzy “shape bag” filled with different shapes. Each turn, you can pull out a shape and share where you think you might find that shape in the real world.
For example, if you find a square, perhaps it reminds you of a window or a birthday gift!
Now that we have shared our ideas, let’s make some shape art! Use your crayons to draw your favourite shapes on the big piece of paper. You could make a beautiful garden of shapes or a silly shape monster!
To finish our adventure, we’ll go on a shape scavenger hunt around the classroom or playground. Here’s what to look for:
At the end of the lesson, we will gather back in our circle to share what we discovered during our shape scavenger hunt. Remember, shapes are all around us, and you can be a shape explorer anytime you want!
Let’s make sure we have lots of fun learning about shapes today!
And there we go, little adventurers! Ready to dive into the world of shapes? 🎈
