Let’s start with a fun little story:

Once upon a time in the lush green forest, there was a lively parade of animals. First, a cheerful little rabbit hopped by. Then, two playful squirrels joined. But, oh no! One squirrel got so excited that it dashed off to grab an acorn!

Questions for the Class:

• How many animals were there before the squirrel ran off?
• After the squirrel left, how many animals are left in the parade?

Activity: The Animal Call

Now, let’s get ready to help our animal friends with some fun counting games!

1. Addition Adventure:

   • I’m going to call out different animals, and we will count how many there are together!
     • For example, if I say "3 ducks," we will hold up our fingers and count: 1, 2, 3!
     • Then, if I say "add 2 more ducks," we will combine and count again!

   Add them up! How many ducks do we have now?

2. Subtraction Safari:

   • Now let’s pretend that some animals go back to their homes.
   • If there are 5 monkeys swinging in the trees, and 1 decides to leave, let’s count how many are still swinging!
