Good morning, everyone! Today, we’re going on a special adventure into the world of digraphs! Can anyone tell me what a digraph is? (Pause for responses). That's right! A digraph is when two letters come together to make one sound. Just like a superhero duo!
To kick off our lesson, let’s start with a Digraph Treasure Hunt! I have hidden some special cards around the classroom that have words with digraphs on them. Each word is a clue to finding our digraph treasures. When you find a card, shout out the word you found!
Search for Digraphs: Look around the room for cards that are hidden (make sure they have digraphs).
Say the Word: When you find a card, raise your hand and read the word out loud to the class.
Identify the Digraph!: Let’s figure out together what the digraph is in that word. Is it “ch” like in chip or “sh” like in ship?
After our treasure hunt, we’ll gather in a circle and talk about every digraph we discovered today. We’ll even create a big artwork to showcase our adventure! Are you ready to dive into the world of digraphs and have some fun?
Now, on the count of three, I want everyone to yell, “Digraphs are awesome!” Ready… 1, 2, 3! 🎉
Let’s start our Digraph Treasure Hunt!
