Welcome, Class 3! 🌟 Today, we are going to embark on a thrilling Outdoor Measurement Adventure! We’ll step outside our classroom to discover how to measure things around us without using standard units like meters or centimeters. Instead, we'll use some creative, fun, and non-standard units that will make measuring feel like an exciting quest!
Once we are outside, each student will select a Mystery Object in our schoolyard. This could be anything from a rock, a leaf, or even the height of a tree!
With your Mystery Object chosen, it’s time to measure it! In your groups, use your chosen non-standard units to measure the length and height of your objects.
Make sure to write down your measurements on a piece of paper.
After measuring, gather again as a class to share your findings!
Before we head back inside, let’s take a moment to reflect on our adventure. Today, we learned that measuring does not always have to involve rulers or tape measures. By using non-standard units, we could explore our environment in a unique way.
Get ready for another adventure next time as we continue to explore the wonderful world of measurement! Happy measuring, everyone!
With this engaging start to our outdoor lesson, students will be motivated to learn about measuring in a fun and interactive way!
