Today, we’re going to kick off our lessons with a fun and engaging introduction to music that helps us get to know each other! Through songs, movement, and musical games, we'll discover who we are in a fun, creative way.
Gather the children in a circle on the floor. Ensure everyone can see and hear each other comfortably.
Tell the kids that music is a wonderful way to express who we are. Explain that today, we will play a game where each person gets to share their name and a fun sound or move that represents them.
Start by demonstrating the activity. For example:
Hand a soft musical instrument, such as a tambourine or a maraca, to one child. This child will take turns sharing their name, sound, and movement with the group. After they have gone, they will pass the instrument to the next friend.
Encourage each child to join in by repeating the sound or movement after each person shares. This keeps everyone engaged and helps strengthen the sense of community within the group.
At the end of the activity, applaud everyone for their unique contributions. Remind the children that just like music, each person brings their own special sounds and rhythms to our classroom.
Introduce the next part of the lesson by saying that now we’ll learn a fun song that incorporates our names and the sounds we just created. This will further help them connect with each other through the joy of music!
This engaging introduction fosters a sense of belonging among preschool children while nurturing their appreciation for music and creativity. Enjoy your lesson!
