Gather Around: Let's form a circle in the classroom. Once you are seated, look around at your classmates and take a moment. Each of you is part of a greater community, just like the stories and cultures in Aboriginal art.
Close Your Eyes: Take a deep breath, and as you exhale, picture a place that feels special to you—a location that connects you to your family, culture, or personal history. It could be a beach, a forest, a park, or even your backyard.
Imagery in Mind: Visualise the colours, the sounds, the textures, and the emotions that come with it. With your eyes still closed, think about how you would express this place in artwork. What symbols or images would you use to tell your story?
Open Sharing: Now, one by one, I invite you to share your place with the group. No need to describe it in detail; simply share the emotions or ideas that arise from it. What words or shapes come to mind? (Each student takes a turn, encouraging creativity and personal expression.)
