Engaging Introduction to "Do You Get On With Your Teachers?"
Lesson Overview
Welcome to today’s Spanish lesson! We’ll be exploring the topic of relationships with teachers: "¿Te llevas bien con tus profesores?". Understanding how to express your feelings and opinions about your teachers is an essential part of language learning and helps improve communication skills.
Creative Starter Activity: "Teacher Bingo"
Objective
Kick-start the lesson with a fun and interactive game that encourages students to reflect on their relationships with their teachers while practicing Spanish vocabulary related to personalities and emotions.
Instructions
-
Preparation (5 minutes):
- Before the class, prepare bingo cards with 25 squares. Each square should have a word or phrase related to character traits, such as "estricto" (strict), "amable" (kind), "divertido" (funny), "aburrido" (boring), etc.
- Include a mix of positive, neutral, and negative traits to provide a full spectrum of personality adjectives.
-
Game Play (15 minutes):
- Hand out a bingo card and a pen to each student.
- Explain the objective: Students must find classmates who think a certain way about their teachers. They can only mark a box if a classmate (or the teacher, if appropriate) expresses that they agree with the adjective in relation to any teacher they share.
- Encourage students to ask questions in Spanish, such as, “¿Cómo es tu profesor de matemáticas?” (What is your maths teacher like?) or “¿Te llevas bien con tu profesora de inglés?” (Do you get on well with your English teacher?).
-
Class Discussion (10 minutes):
- After the bingo game, regroup as a class.
- Ask students to share their findings, such as which teachers have been described with the most positive traits and which less favourable ones.
- Facilitate a discussion on the importance of communication and mutual respect between students and teachers in the learning process.
Conclusion
This activity will not only set a lively tone for the lesson but also allow students to express personal opinions and practice their conversational skills in Spanish. Let’s dive deeper into the language of appreciation, respect, and understanding in our interactions with teachers!
