Exciting Reading Adventure: Day 1 of Unit 15!

Welcome to Our Reading Journey! 🚀

Hello, young readers! Today, we’re going to embark on a special adventure in reading. Are you ready to explore new words and stories? Let’s get started!

Lesson Objective

By the end of today’s lesson, you will be able to:

Warm-Up: Sound Safari! 🦁

To kick things off, let’s go on a “Sound Safari”!

  1. Gather in Circles: Everyone find a comfy spot in our reading area.
  2. Sound Hunt: I will describe a sound, and you will have to find something in the classroom that starts with that sound!
    • Example: If I say “/s/,” you might find a “star” or a “stapler.”
  3. Show and Share: Once you find your item, hold it up and say the sound it makes out loud!

Introducing New Words: The Word Wall! 🏰

Now that we’ve warmed up our ears, it’s time to meet our new words for this week. Come and look at our Word Wall!

Interactive Activity: Word Detective! 🕵️‍♂️

For our main activity, let’s become word detectives!

  1. Partner Up: Turn to your reading buddy.
  2. Word Challenge: Each pair will take a new word from this week. You will:
    • Draw It: Create a simple drawing that represents your word.
    • Act It Out: Show the action or meaning of your word without talking!
  3. Present: After a few minutes, we will come back together. Each pair will share their drawing and clues while the rest of the class guesses the word.

Closing: Reading Together 📚

To wrap up our lesson, let’s sit cozily, and I’ll read a short story that includes our new words. As we read, listen carefully, and if you hear one of our new words, give a big cheer!

Goodbye! 🌈

Fantastic job today, readers! Remember to practice your new words at home. I can’t wait to see how you use them in our next lesson!

Let’s make every reading session a delightful adventure! 🏞️
