🎉 Welcome, Young Historians! 🎉

Today, we’re going to embark on a thrilling journey back to the 18th century—a time when our country was just beginning to find its own identity! Are you ready to discover what sparked the flames of independence?

🌟 Mysterious Letter Activity 🌟

Objective:

Engage students and spark their curiosity about the American Revolution.

Materials Needed:

The Mysterious Letter:

Before class, prepare a letter with the following text:

Dear Patriot,

Rumors are spreading about the future of our colonies. The British are imposing heavy taxes, and whispers of revolt are in the air! There are brave individuals who believe it’s time to break free. Can you imagine a world where we make our own rules?

Meet me by the old oak tree. We will need to discuss our plans.

Yours in Revolution,

A Secret Friend

The Lesson Launch:

  1. Hook the Students:

    • Start the class by letting the students know that they've received a special letter from a secret friend who is living during the time of the American Revolution!
  2. Share the Mystery:

    • Hand out the sealed envelopes. Ask students to open them at the same time. Have them read the letter aloud.
  3. Discussion:

    • Encourage students to share their thoughts:
      • Who do you think the “secret friend” is?
      • What do you think “breaking free” means?
      • How would you feel if you lived during this time?
