Lesson Starter: Exploring Our Future Careers

Objective

Today, we're diving into the exciting world of careers! By the end of the lesson, you’ll have a better understanding of different job options and how your interests and skills can shape your future.

Introduction: The Mysterious Career Box

Activity: Unboxing the Future

  1. Mysterious Box: Bring a decorated box to class, filled with 10 small items that represent various careers. For example:

    • A toy stethoscope for a doctor
    • A small hammer for a builder
    • A paintbrush for an artist
    • A mini computer for a coder
  2. Group Discussion:

    • Divide the class into small groups.
    • Ask each group to take turns picking an item from the box without revealing it to the rest of the class.
    • As they choose an item, the group has to discuss what career they think it represents and why. Encourage them to think about the skills and interests related to that job.
  3. Sharing Time:

    • After all the items are picked, groups will share their thoughts with the class. This can lead to a fun debate on why certain items represent particular careers.
    • As a teacher, guide the discussion by adding interesting facts about each profession mentioned.
