Imagine it's your birthday, and your mom has ordered a delicious pizza! 🍕 But, wait! There’s a twist. The pizza comes sliced into different parts.

Let’s Explore:

1. The Scenario:

   • You have a pizza that is cut into 8 equal slices.
   • You’ve invited 3 friends over, so there are 4 of you in total.

2. The Challenge:

   • If you all want to share the pizza evenly, how many slices does each person get?

Activity:

• Raise your hand if you can tell me how many slices each person will get.
• Think-Pair-Share: Pair up with a friend and discuss how you would solve this!

Hint: Remember to think about how to divide the total number of slices by the number of people.

Building the Concept:

Fraction Basics:

After we’ve figured out how many slices each person gets, we'll learn how to write this sharing in fraction form!

• If each person gets 2 slices, we can represent this sharing by saying:
  • Each person gets 2/8 of the pizza.
  • We will learn how to simplify this fraction too!

Using Visual Aids:

I'll bring out some pizza models (can be paper plates with drawings) that we can color and 'slice' to visualize our fractions.
