Welcome to the World of Fractions!

Introduction to Our Lesson

Good morning, Class! 🎉 Today, we are going to dive into the wonderful world of fractions! But before we start, I have a little surprise for you that will help us understand what fractions are all about.

The Pizza Puzzle

Imagine it's your birthday, and your mom has ordered a delicious pizza! 🍕 But, wait! There’s a twist. The pizza comes sliced into different parts.

Let’s Explore:

  1. The Scenario:

    • You have a pizza that is cut into 8 equal slices.
    • You’ve invited 3 friends over, so there are 4 of you in total.
  2. The Challenge:

    • If you all want to share the pizza evenly, how many slices does each person get?

Activity:

Hint: Remember to think about how to divide the total number of slices by the number of people.

Building the Concept:

Fraction Basics:

After we’ve figured out how many slices each person gets, we'll learn how to write this sharing in fraction form!

Using Visual Aids:

I'll bring out some pizza models (can be paper plates with drawings) that we can color and 'slice' to visualize our fractions.

Conclusion:

By the end of this lesson, you’ll be able to understand what a fraction represents and how to share things fairly, just like our pizza!

Now, let's get started on slicing that pizza and exploring the magic of fractions together! 🍕✨
