Welcome to our special lesson today about social skills! We are going to learn how to be great friends and have fun together. To start off, we're going to play a game called "Friendship Circle."
Teacher: "Today, we are going to learn how to be good friends! Can anyone tell me what being a friend means?"
Pause for responses and encourage the children to share their ideas.
Pass the Scarf: Start the game by tossing the scarf to a child in the circle while saying their name. Encourage them to wave the scarf and say, “Hi, [Name]!”
Compliment Time: After they wave the scarf, they can toss it to another friend while saying something nice about them! For example, “I like your smile!” or “You are a great runner!”
Continue the Game: Keep passing the scarf around until each child has had a chance to speak and be complimented.
After everyone has participated, gather the children back together for a short discussion.
Teacher: "How did it feel to say nice things to your friends? What did you like about passing the scarf?"
Encourage the children to express their feelings and share their experiences.
Teacher: "Great job, everyone! Remember, being a good friend means sharing, saying nice things, and helping each other. Let’s keep practicing our social skills every day!"
Now that we’ve warmed up our friendship muscles, let’s move on to some fun songs about friendship! 🎶
This engaging beginning activity sets a positive tone for teaching social skills through interaction and communication, tailored for preschool-aged children.
