Beginning Our Adventure with Number Bonds to 100!

🎉 Welcome, Mathematicians!

Good morning, class! Today, we are going to embark on an exciting journey into the world of numbers! Are you ready?

🚀 The Magic of Number Bonds

Imagine that number bonds are like special magic keys that unlock the secrets of addition and subtraction. Just like the way a magician brings two halves together to form a whole, we will learn how different pairs of numbers can combine to make 100!

🎈 The Great Balloon Challenge

To kick off our lesson, I have a fun challenge for you. In your imagination, you are balloon artists at a big birthday party! Your job is to create colourful balloon animals that add up to exactly 100 balloons altogether.

🧩 Here’s How It Works:

  1. In Pairs: You will pair up with a friend.
  2. Choose Your Balloons: Together, think of two numbers that add up to 100. For example, 25 and 75 or 50 and 50.
  3. Draw It Out: Grab your coloured pencils and draw your balloons! For each pair of numbers, draw a balloon with the number written inside. You can use any colours you like!
  4. Share Your Creation: Once you're done, share your balloon animals with the class and show us how your numbers make the magic happen!

🎯 Let's Get Started!

Now that you know what we’re going to do, let’s put on our thinking caps and start ballooning those numbers! Remember, there are no wrong answers; you might discover new magic combinations along the way!

Are you ready? On your marks, get set, go! 🎈✨
