Today, we are going to embark on an exciting journey into the world of math, where we will discover the magic of regrouping! Regrouping helps us solve addition and subtraction problems with larger numbers.
Imagine you are a brave explorer on a quest to find hidden treasure! You have just discovered a mysterious treasure map that leads to three ancient chests filled with gold coins. However, there's a catch! Each chest can only hold a certain number of coins, and we’ll need to do some math magic—regrouping— to figure out how to share the coins evenly.
Present a colorful treasure map on the board with images of the chests and coins as you tell the story.
As we investigate the treasure map, our mission will be to gather all the coins from the chests—using regrouping to help us count more efficiently.
After we solve our treasure problem, we will split up into teams and create our own treasure maps with math problems to challenge each other!
Today will be an adventure full of surprises, learning, and of course—regrouping! Let’s put on our explorer hats and dive into our treasure hunt!
