This lesson plan will encourage our young artists to explore the theme of kindness through fun and engaging art activities. Let’s inspire young minds to express their feelings and learn the importance of being kind to others!
Materials Needed:
Activity: Begin the lesson by discussing what kindness means. Ask the children to share examples of kind acts they have experienced or witnessed. Then, create a Kindness Tree as a class. Have the children decorate the tree trunk and stick their green leaves on it. On each leaf, they can write or draw a kind act they have done or would like to do. This collaborative piece will represent their ideas of kindness as they grow!
Materials Needed:
Activity: Start the activity by reading a short story about kindness. After the story, have the students trace their hands on colourful paper. Once they cut out their hand shapes, they can decorate each hand with drawings or words that represent kindness (e.g., hugs, smiles, helping). Finally, they can glue all their heart hands together to form a heart shape on a large piece of poster board, visually representing their collective kindness!

Activity: Introduce the concept of kindness by discussing how small acts can create a big impact. Invite each student to choose a rock. They can paint a kind word or a positive message on their rock, such as "friend," "love," or "share." Once dry, these rocks can be used to create a kindness garden outside the classroom or delivered to friends and family as a surprise!

Activity: Start by telling the children about the importance of spreading kindness like a warm fire. This activity involves creating a Kind Kindling character—a little creature that represents kindness! Each child can create their own kindling character using art materials. Encourage them to name their creatures and think of one act of kindness their character would do. At the end of the activity, they can share their characters and acts of kindness with the class!
Materials Needed:
Activity: Introduce the idea of kindness through a puppet show. Children will create their own puppets using socks or paper bags and decorate them. Once their puppets are ready, split the class into small groups. Each group will create a short skit around a theme of kindness, demonstrating a kind act through their puppet characters. After rehearsing, they can perform their skits for the rest of the class, spreading the joy of kindness through creativity!
