G’day, Year 1 artists! Today, we're going to dive into a super exciting world of bright colours and imaginative artwork. Have you ever seen a painting that looks like a rainbow exploded? That’s the magic of a special art style called Fauvism!
Fauvism is a fun style of painting that started more than a hundred years ago by a group of artists known as the "Fauves," which means "wild beasts" in French. They loved to use loud, vibrant colours and paint things in their own unique way, rather than how they looked in real life. Can you imagine painting a green tree with pink leaves? That’s what Fauves did!
To help us understand Fauvism, we're going to do a little art project called The Rainbow Tree!
Draw a Tree: First, draw a big tree trunk in the middle of your paper. You can use brown or any other fun colour!
Add Leaves: Now, do something wild! Draw the leaves in whatever bright colours you choose—maybe blue, pink, or even orange!
Fill in the Background: Think about what’s around your tree. You can paint the sky purple, add some yellow suns, or maybe some green grass that looks like a beautiful dream!
Share Your Creations: Once you're done, we will have an art show right here in our classroom! Each of you can share your Rainbow Trees and explain why you chose those amazing colours.
Fauvism is all about freedom and fun with colours, and today we’re going to express ourselves just like the Fauves! Remember, it doesn’t have to look “perfect”—it just has to be you!
Are we ready to explore and create some magnificent artworks? Let's get started! 🌟
