Introduction (5 minutes)

-
Materials Needed:
- A large, colourful picture of a dinosaur (you can use a TV screen or a printed poster).
- Soft dinosaur toys or plushies (optional).
- Dino feet print cutouts (made from construction paper).
-
Setting the Scene:
- Gather the children in a circle on the carpet.
- Show them the large dinosaur picture and ask, “What do you see? What do you think this creature is?”
- Encourage their responses, guiding them to use descriptive words (big, tall, scary, etc.).
-
Interactive Story Time:
- Tell a short, imaginative story about a friendly dinosaur named Dino who goes on an adventure looking for his lost friends in the jungle.
- Use expressive voices and sound effects (roaring, stomping feet) to make it lively.
- Tease the children with phrases like, “But what happens next? Will Dino find his friends?” This builds anticipation for the activities to come.
-
Follow-Up Questions:
- Ask simple questions to encourage participation:
- “What sound does a dinosaur make?”
- “What colour is Dino?”
- “What do you think Dino eats?”
-
Transition:
- Introduce the day's activities by saying, “Today, we’ll learn about different dinosaurs, their names, and what they like to do! Are you ready to go on a dino-mite adventure?”
