"Good morning, class! Today, we are going to learn about something very exciting in Spanish, and that is called vowels! Can anyone tell me what a vowel is?" [Pause for responses] "Great answers! In Spanish, we have five vowels: A, E, I, O, U. Let's take a look at these vowels together."
Show flashcards for each vowel: A, E, I, O, U. As you show each card, say the vowel sound.
"This is the letter A. Let’s all say it together. Aaaa!"
Repeat for E, I, O, U.
"Excellent! Now, we know our vowels in Spanish!"
"Now, I have some fun sounds for you to listen to! I’m going to play audio clips of each vowel, and I want you to repeat the sounds after me. Are you ready?"
Play the audio clips one by one, pausing after each sound for the students to repeat.
"Here we go! First sound: Aaaa."
Pause for the class to repeat.
"Next, Eeee."
Pause and repeat for I, O, U.
"Fantastic job everyone! You sound like a great choir of vowel singers!"
"Now, let’s play a game! I’m going to say a word, and you’ll tell me if you hear a vowel in it or not. If you hear a vowel, I want you to put your hands up! Ready?"
"Okay, listen carefully: ‘casa’!"
[Watch for hands up]
"Very good! Yes, there are vowels in ‘casa’. How about ‘perro’?"
[Observe students]
"That's right! No vowels in ‘perro’. Let’s try another! ‘abaco’?"
[Continue with more words, encouraging conversation and discussion among classmates.]
"Awesome job identifying the vowels, class!"
"Now, I have a special worksheet for you all! This will help us practice the vowels we just learned. Listen carefully: I want you to circle the vowels in the words on the paper. You have three minutes to finish. You can use markers or crayons to make it colorful!"
Hand out worksheets and walk around to assist students as they work on them.
"Great work! Keep focusing on those vowels!"
"Okay, friends, I have a homework assignment for you. I want you to think of three words that have vowels in them and write them down. When you come back to class next time, we’ll talk about those words together. Can you do that?"
Wait for confirmation from the class.
"Perfect! I'm excited to see what you come up with!"
"To wrap up our lesson today, let’s quickly look back at what we learned. We discovered the five vowels: A, E, I, O, U. We listened to their sounds, played a game, and worked on our worksheets."
"Does anyone have any questions about what we learned today?"
[Wait for questions and answer them thoughtfully.]
"You all did such an amazing job today! I want to give you a big round of applause for your hard work!"
Encourage clapping.
"See you all next time! Bye!"
What are the five vowels in Spanish? List them and provide their sounds.
Choose one vowel and write three words that contain that vowel. Write the vowel in bold in each word.
Listen to the sounds of the vowels again. After listening, write one sentence for each vowel using a word that includes that vowel.
Identify whether the following words contain vowels or not. Write "Yes" or "No" next to each word:
On a separate sheet of paper, draw a colorful representation of each vowel (A, E, I, O, U). You can use illustrations or words that start with each vowel.
For each of the following sentences, underline the vowels that you can find:
Write down two things that you enjoyed about today's lesson on vowels and why you liked them.
