Lesson Introduction: Exploring the World of Painting

Warm Welcome and Expectations

Good day, Year 6!

Today we embark on an exciting journey into the vibrant world of Painting. Before we dip our brushes into the paint, let's take a moment to reflect on what art means to us. Art is not just about colours and shapes; it’s a means of expression, a way to communicate thoughts and feelings, and a reflection of culture and history.

Icebreaker Activity: “Colour Your Mood”

Instructions:

  1. Gather Your Materials: Please take a piece of paper and your favourite colour pencils or crayons.
  2. Draw Your Mood: Spend 5 minutes drawing something that represents your current mood using shapes, symbols, and of course, colours!
  3. Share and Discuss: After you've finished, we will go around the room, and each of you will have a chance to share your drawing and explain how it represents your mood.

Purpose:

This activity will help us understand how colours and shapes can convey feelings and ideas. It also gives us a chance to connect with one another as we begin to explore our personal relationships with art.

Transition to Painting Techniques

Now that we've warmed up our artistic senses, we will transition into the fascinating techniques of painting. We will explore various styles, tools, and mediums used by famous artists and even try our hand at creating our own masterpieces.

Get ready to unleash your creativity, and let’s dive into today’s lesson on painting! 🎨
