Math Adventure: One-derful Numbers!

Learning Objective

Today, we are going to explore the magical world of number one! By the end of the lesson, you will know all about the number one and how special it is!

Introduction: The Number One Story

Gather 'Round, Super Explorers!

Before we jump into our number one adventure, I have a short story to share with you!

Once upon a time in Numberland, there was a little character named "One." One was very proud to be the first number in the number family. He loved to play alone but also enjoyed making new friends! Can you help One find out just how special he is today?

Activity 1: Meet the Number One

Materials Needed:

Instructions:

  1. Let’s all do a fun cheer for the number One! On the count of three, say "YAY ONE!"
  2. On your desks, we have a big drawing of the number one. Using your colourful markers, let's decorate our number one! We can draw a hat, arms, or anything we want to make it look exciting!
  3. After decorating, let’s count out one sticker or button and place it on our drawing. Remember, we only want one of each!

Activity 2: One’s Special Friends

Let’s Find the Number One in Our Classroom!

Take a few minutes to look around the room. Can you find things that come in one?

Wrap-Up: One is Fun!

Let’s come back to our circle!

Final Thought: Remember, just like One in our story, you all are unique in your own way. Today, we celebrated how being one can be fun!

Closing Cheer

To finish our math adventure, let’s do our cheer for number one again! On the count of three: "YAY ONE!"

Reflection

As you continue your day, remember that every time you see the number one, think of our friend and how special it is to be unique!

Let’s have some fun with numbers every day!
