Lesson Outline
Introduction (5 minutes)
- Greet students and introduce the topic of transport.
- Elicit from the class what modes of transport they use to commute to work.
- Write their responses on the whiteboard.
Vocabulary Introduction (10 minutes)
- Distribute the printed vocabulary list that includes terms related to transport.
- Go through the vocabulary as a class, pronouncing each word and its meaning. Key terms include:
- Bus
- Train
- Car
- Bicycle
- Walking
- Public transport
- Commute
- Use picture cards to help visualise each mode of transport.
Guided Practice (10 minutes)
- Split students into pairs or small groups.
- Give each group a handout with conversation prompts. Example prompts:
- "How do you usually get to work?"
- "What mode of transport do you prefer and why?"
- "How long does it take you to get to work?"
- Allow students time to discuss their answers using the vocabulary learned.
Class Sharing (5 minutes)
