Introduction to Finance et Argent

Bonjour, mes petits économistes!

Today, we are going to embark on an exciting adventure into the world of money! Are you ready? Grab your imaginary wallets, and let’s open the doors to Finance et Argent!

Opening Activity: "The Money Tree"

Objective:

To introduce the concept of money in a fun and engaging way.

What You Need:

How to Start:

  1. Gather the Students: Have your students sit in a circle around the "Money Tree." Make sure they can all see it clearly.

  2. Introduce the Concept:

    • Begin by saying, "Today, we are going to learn how money is a special way we exchange things we want or need!"
    • Explain that just like the tree gives us leaves, money helps us 'buy' things we want.
  3. Interactive Drawing:

    • Hand out the colorful paper leaves.
    • Ask each child to think of one item they would like to buy (e.g., a toy, ice cream, a book) and draw it on a leaf.
    • As they share their drawings, they can also say how much they think that item might cost.
  4. Stick the Leaves on the Tree:

    • Once everyone has shared, ask them to attach their leaves to the "Money Tree."
    • Explain that just like leaves on a tree come in many colors and sizes, money can be used in many different ways.
  5. Use Play Money (if available):

    • Show the children some play money. Explain the different bills and coins.
    • Ask questions: "If I wanted to buy a toy for $5, how many $1 bills would I need?"

Transitioning into the Lesson:

After the activity, transition into your main lesson by saying, "Now that we know our list of wonderful things we want to buy, let’s learn how we can use money to get them! Are you excited to discover more about Finance et Argent?"

This engaging start will help spark the children's interest and prepare them for learning about finances in a way that's relatable and fun!
