Counting Adventures: A Fun Journey Through Numbers

Introduction

Welcome, Little Learners! Today, we are going on an exciting Counting Adventure through our magical number land, where we will learn how to count both backward and forward all the way to 100! Are you ready? Let’s put on our explorer hats and start our journey!

Warm-Up Activity: Number Circle

What You Need:

Instructions:

  1. Draw a Big Circle: Gather around your teacher as they draw a big circle on the paper or whiteboard.
  2. Fill It Up with Numbers: Together, let’s fill the inside of the circle with numbers from 1 to 100. You can take turns writing numbers, and feel free to use different colours for each set of ten (1-10, 11-20, etc.).
  3. Jump and Count: With the numbers in place, we will jump around the circle. When you stop jumping, whoever is pointing at a number will say the number out loud!

The Big Question

Now that we have our number circle filled up, it’s time for our special challenge:
Can we count backward as well as forward?

Group Discussion

Encourage the children to share their ideas, helping them understand the concepts as a group.

Counting Game: Forward and Backward Challenge

Instructions:

  1. Divide Into Pairs: Pair up with a friend!
  2. Forward Counting: One person will start counting forward from 1 to 20, and their partner will add on with the next number until they reach 100.
  3. Backward Counting: Then, switch roles! This time, start from 20 and count backward to 1!

Reflecting on the Activity

After the game, gather as a class and discuss:

Conclusion: Treasure Hunt!

To wrap up our lesson, we will have a Treasure Hunt! Hidden around the classroom are various number cards (1-100). Your mission is to find the cards and put them in order. You can work alone or with your partners! Let’s see who can find the most numbers!
