Lesson Outline
Introduction (5 minutes)

- Explain that the 4th of July is America's birthday, a day when we celebrate our country’s independence.
- Discuss symbols associated with the holiday, such as the American flag, fireworks, and stars.
Demonstration (5 minutes)
- Show examples of an American flag and different kinds of fireworks.
- Use the star templates to illustrate how to create stars from construction paper.
- Demonstrate how to cut and glue the stars onto a piece of paper to create their unique 4th of July artwork.
Art Activity (15 minutes)
- Distribute red, white, and blue construction paper, safety scissors, and glue sticks to each student.
- Instruct students to create their own artwork inspired by the 4th of July. They can:
- Make a flag collage using the flag templates and colored paper.
- Create a fireworks scene using crayons and the star templates.
