Introduction to the Lesson

Adventure Starter: The Magic Bag

What You'll Need:

• A colourful bag (or a box) to represent our "Magic Grammar Bag"
• A few small items (like a toy, a picture, or a fruit) to pull out of the bag
• A big poster board

The Activity:

1. Gather Around: Have all the children sit in a circle.
2. The Magic Bag: Show the class the colourful bag. Tell them it holds special items that will help us learn about grammar today.
3. Pulling Out Items: Take one item out of the bag at a time.
   • As you pull each item out, ask the children what it is. For example, if you pull out a toy car, they might say, "It's a car!"
   • Write down their answers on the poster board under the heading ‘Nouns’. Explain that nouns are names of things, like the toy car.

Introduce Verbs & Adjectives:

4. Action Time: Next, discuss what the toy car can do. “Can it go fast?” or “Can we play with it?” Explain that words that show actions are called ‘verbs’.

   • Write “go” and “play” under the heading ‘Verbs’.

5. Describing Words: Finally, ask the children to describe the toy car. “Is it big or small? What colour is it?” Explain that these descriptive words are called ‘Adjectives’.

   • Write down the words they use, like "red," "fast," or "small," under the heading ‘Adjectives’.
