Welcome to the Magical Number Garden!
Objective
Today, we will embark on a wonderful adventure in our Magical Number Garden where we will explore numbers up to 10. Get ready to count, play, and have fun!
Introduction
Gather around, little explorers! 🌼 Today we are going to venture into our magical garden where numbers grow like flowers. Each flower represents a number, and our mission is to find out how many flowers there are in total by counting them!
Activity: Counting Flowers
Step 1: The Magical Basket
- Materials Needed:
- A colourful basket (or container)
- Flower cut-outs with numbers from 1 to 10 written on them
- A large piece of chart paper
- Crayons or markers
Step 2: Introduce the Numbers
- Hold up a flower cut-out with the number 1 written on it.
- “Look! We have one beautiful flower. Can anyone tell me how many flowers we see?”
- Allow the children to respond.
Step 3: Planting the Flowers
- Take the flowers one by one, calling out the number and encouraging the children to count along.
- As you place each flower in the basket, ask, “How many do we have now?” This reinforces counting as they go.
Step 4: Creating Our Number Chart
- After all the flowers have been counted, bring out the large chart paper.
- Together, write the numbers from 1 to 10 down the side of the paper.
- Next to each number, draw a picture of the flower cut-out representing that number. For example, draw one flower next to 1, two flowers next to 2, and so on, up to 10.
Conclusion: Celebration of Numbers
- At the end of our adventure, let’s celebrate our new friends, the numbers!
- Have the children sing a number song about counting to 10 while pointing to the flowers on the chart.
Remember!
Numbers are all around us, just like flowers in a garden. 🌻 Let's take care of our Magical Number Garden and count together every day!
Additional Ideas
- Incorporate Movement: Have a number dance where children jump (or make movements) according to the number you call out.
- Number Hunt: Hide flower cut-outs around the classroom. Kids can count each flower they find and place it in the basket.
Reminder for Teachers
Encourage exploration and curiosity about numbers. Engage children through questions and interactive activities that make learning about numbers exciting!
