Slide 1: Introduction to Counting to 100
- Counting is an important skill in mathematics!
- Today, we will learn how to count to 100 using three ways:
- Concretely with real objects.
- Pictorially with drawings.
- Symbolically with numbers.
- Let's get started!
Slide 2: Counting Concretely
- Concretely means using real objects to count.
- We can use counters, which can be anything like:
- Colorful blocks
- Counters in different colors (red, blue, green)
- Example: How many apple and star counters can we find?
{The image of a table with various colorful counters including red and blue blocks, and drawings of apple and star counters scattered around.}
Slide 3: Counting Pictorially
- Pictorial counting is when we draw pictures to show numbers.
- Let's draw:
- 10 apples: 🍏🍏🍏🍏🍏🍏🍏🍏🍏🍏
- 10 stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- When we draw, we can see how many we have in total!
- How many do we have if we combine 10 apples and 10 stars?
{The image of a page filled with colorful drawings of 10 apples and 10 stars, arranged in two rows.}
Slide 4: Symbolic Counting
- Symbolic counting uses numbers to represent amounts.
- Let's write the numbers from 1 to 100!
- Example:
- 1, 2, 3,... all the way to 100.
- We can learn patterns in numbers, like:
- Every 10 numbers have 0, 1, 2, etc., in the ones place.
- Let's practice counting together!
