Objective: Today, we are going to explore the exciting world of NASA and learn about how they discover and study space! Are you ready to become a junior astronaut?
Star Creation: As soon as everyone is seated, hand out paper stars to each student. Ask them to decorate their star with drawings or words that relate to space—like planets, rockets, astronauts, or even aliens!
Share Your Star: After everyone has finished decorating, each student will take turns standing up to share what they drew and why it’s important to them. For example, "I drew the Earth because it's our home!"
Create the NASA Galaxy Poster: After everyone has shared, help the students to tape their stars onto a large poster board, creating a beautiful "NASA Galaxy." This will allow them to see how each of their ideas fits into the bigger picture of space.
Now that we have created our NASA Galaxy and shared our thoughts about space, let’s dive into some amazing things NASA does! We will learn how scientists and engineers work together to explore the stars, build rockets, and even send robots to other planets.
NASA, which stands for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, is the part of our government that helps us learn more about space. Today, we will become like the scientists at NASA and take part in some fun activities that help us understand more about the universe we live in.
Let’s put on our imagination helmets and prepare for lift-off! Buckle up, because we're about to go on an incredible adventure to learn about space science and engineering! 🚀✨
Through this engaging start to our NASA STEM workshop, we hope to ignite a passion for space and science in your young minds. Let's get ready to explore the universe together!
