Today, we are going to dive into the exciting world of persuasive writing! By the end of the lesson, you will learn how to persuade your readers to agree with your opinions and ideas. Let’s start with a fun activity to get our creative juices flowing!
Begin by dividing the class into two groups. On one side, we have the “Chocolate Champions” and on the other, the “Fruity Fanatics.” Each group will represent their favourite snack!
Give each group 5 minutes to discuss why their snack is the best choice. Here are some guiding questions to help you:
After discussing, each group will have a chance to present their arguments. Each group will have 2 minutes to convince the class why their snack is the best. Make sure to speak clearly and confidently, using persuasive words like "definitely," "absolutely," and "the best!"
Once both groups have finished their pitches, we will hold a class vote to see which snack is the ultimate favourite. Before you vote, think about which arguments were the most convincing!
This activity not only gets us thinking about persuasive writing but also shows us how to express our opinions clearly and confidently.
Now that we've had some fun, let's explore the tools we need to write our very own persuasive texts! Are you ready to become a persuasion expert?
