Lesson Outline

Lesson Objective

The objective of this lesson is to improve students' technique in 60 meter sprint and enhance their speed, agility, and coordination.

Materials

Introduction

To kick off the lesson, students will begin by performing warm-up exercises such as jogging, stretching, and dynamic movements to activate their muscles and prepare them for sprinting. The coach will then introduce the lesson objective of improving 60 meter sprint technique, and explain the focus areas of the lesson – starting position, arm swing and leg drive, and stride length and frequency.

Technique

The coach will demonstrate the correct starting position, where students place their feet on the starting line, lean forward, and keep their hands on the ground. Subsequently, the coach will explain the arm swing and leg drive, where students must use their arms and legs to propel and maintain their speed. Finally, the coach will teach stride length and frequency, emphasizing the importance of maintaining an optimal balance between extending and contracting strides.

Practice

Students will get an opportunity to put the technique into practice by running the 60 meter sprint three times, while the coach observes and provides feedback and corrections. During the practice session, the coach will pay particular attention to each student's technique and will suggest corrections and improvements where needed.

Cool Down

To conclude, students will perform stretching exercises to cool down, prevent injury, and reduce tightness in their muscles. The coach will lead the students through several stretching exercises, targeting the lower body, upper body, and core.

Conclusion

To wrap up the lesson, the coach will recap the lesson objective and the learnings covered in the lesson, acknowledging the students' progress and efforts. Finally, students will be encouraged to continue practicing their sprinting technique and exercise regularly to maintain and improve their health and fitness levels.
