Today, we're going to embark on an exciting journey into the world of computers and technology! To kick off our lesson, we're going to imagine ourselves as robots on a mission.
Let's close our eyes and picture this:
Imagine you are a robot on a special mission! Your job is to get from one side of a maze to the other, collecting stars and avoiding obstacles along the way. But there's a catch – you can't see the maze! Instead, you have to follow a set of instructions that your friends (your classmates!) will give you.
Divide the Class: We'll split into small teams with one robot in each. The rest of the team will be the "controllers."
Creating Instructions: The controllers will think of simple commands like "move forward," "turn left," or "jump." They will write these down on pieces of paper.
The Robot’s Journey: One student will become the 'robot' and will be blindfolded. The controllers will guide their robot by reading the instructions aloud one at a time.
Reach the Stars: The aim is for the control team to guide their robot to collect as many stars (stickers) as possible in the maze (set up in the classroom using chairs and tables).
As we have fun guiding our robots, you'll learn important computer science concepts like:
Are we ready to start our Robot Adventure? Let’s get those creative gears turning and have some fun while learning about the exciting world of computer science! On your marks, get set, GO! 🎉
