Lesson Outline

1. Introduction (5 minutes)

Begin the lesson by greeting the students in French:
“Bonjour, les enfants!”

Introduce the topic of the calendar by asking questions:

• “Quel jour sommes-nous aujourd'hui?” (What day is it today?)
• “Quel mois sommes-nous?” (What month is it?)

Use a large printed calendar to help students visualise.

2. Days of the Week (10 minutes)

Activity:

• Introduce the days of the week in French:

  • lundi (Monday)
  • mardi (Tuesday)
  • mercredi (Wednesday)
  • jeudi (Thursday)
  • vendredi (Friday)
  • samedi (Saturday)

• Use flashcards to visually represent each day.

Game:

• Play a simple matching game: place the English name of a day on one side and the French name on the other. Students will take turns matching the cards.
