G’day, artists! 🎨 Are you ready to embark on a colourful adventure today? Imagine diving into a magical world where every shade and hue comes to life. Today, we’re going to unlock the secrets of mixing colours with pencils, and trust me, it’s going to be a blast!
First, let’s gather around and chat about colours. What do you think happens when we mix two colours together? Does anyone have a favourite colour? (Encourage students to share their thoughts!)
Colours can be like friends! Sometimes, when they come together, they create something new and exciting! For example, if we mix yellow and blue, we get a lovely green! 🌼💙🍏
Here’s the fun part: I want each of you to find your own special mix of colours today. We’re going to have a “Colour Mix-Up Challenge!”
Select a Base Colour: Pick one colour as your base. This will be your main colour for mixing.
Choose a Secondary Colour: Select a second colour that you want to mix with your base colour.
Experiment: Start with a light pressure and colour in a small area of your paper with your base colour. Next, layer your secondary colour over the top. Vary the pressure to see how it changes the shade.
Create Different Shades: Keep experimenting! What happens if you use more of the base colour? Or if you use more of the secondary colour?
Show Off Your Masterpieces: Once everyone has had a go, we’ll display our artworks around the room and admire each other’s unique creations!
At the end of the lesson, we’ll circle up and share our favourite mixes. What did you discover about colour? Did anything surprise you? And remember, in art, there are no mistakes—only opportunities to create something wonderful!
Now grab your pencils, and let’s get mixing! 🖍️✨
